We, Me, and Us

Audreia always has something interesting to say and one of the most profound was 'if it starts with "we believe..." count me out'. So with that mind, the following is true for me.

Sampsonism is not about an organized, monolithic, dogmatic mantra of "we believe". Rather, it is "I believe", agree or disagree, that is up to you. This thing is not about claiming any moral highground or a quest to change or make up people's minds.

It is and ought to be about recognizing that the person I was yesterday, that I am today, will not necessarily be the person I am tomorrow. New facts, new theories, new evidence, new proofs will come about to facilitate a change of opinion, of belief and the only thing WE need to be is open to it. Listen, Learn, Innovate, Create, Teach, and Explore.

The Death of Osama Bin Laden

The official Sampsonist position on the death of Bin Laden:

While we do not advocate for or against assassinations, the death penalty, etc, we do advocate for that which is necessary. Bin Laden demanded a war and when it reached his doorstep he fought and died. He did not beg for forgiveness, he did not beg for mercy, and thus died fighting for what he believed in.

His beliefs may have had merit, little merit possibly, but merit nevertheless. His process for seeking redress of his semi-legitimate grievances was misguided, wrongheaded, morally corrupt if not morally bankrupt, illegal, unethical, lawless, and ineffective thus rendering him a scourge to all but the like-minded.

His death is not a cause for outright celebration, though celebrating it is understandable. It is not a time to reflect and honor the man, though some will try. It is a time to repudiate his methods. Those who seek illegitimate and violent redress to their concerns need to run, need to hide, need to be shunned by the rest of humanity, and in some cases, need to hunted to the very ends of the earth.

What he did, you cannot do.

But I know a lot of you are like me, waiting for the word from someone who will speak truth to you. You wait for someone to tell you that, YES, there is a higher power, but IT does not care about you. IT has no concern for your birth, your death, and anything that may have happened in between.

God is the universe and all that matters is that...that things just ARE, that what is, IS, that what will be, WILL BE!

Live life as you were meant to live it, with whatever passion you were meant to live it and remember that at the beginning you were created from what was, and at the end, you will become what will BE.

Because It Makes Sense

All we care about is our head, the rest is fluid. And by that, I mean we care about keeping our heads, not necessarily as Sampson in the Bible whose hair was the source of his strength. Anyone can be my idea of a Sampsonist if a strong mind is paramount above all else...of course a beautiful head of hair is good too :)

The rest is fluid. Religions pretty much speak the same thing but in different ways; that there is a higher power, that there are things we simply must have faith in. Most of the time conflict arises because we explain that in different ways and often times we complicate matters by trying to instill our sense of values upon others.

There is no good reason why there are Protestants vs Catholics, Shiite vs Sunni, Reform vs Orthodox, except for the fact that we choose to value our words, our thoughts, our feelings above all others and then seek to dominate.

Stop.

Seek rather to understand what can be understood.

The Gospel According to John

Soon enough I'll get to what this "religion" is all about but had a little quick thing to say.

I was watching a tv movie about the Gospel according to John and it jogged my memory that this was not a particularly great depiction of Jesus Christ. Then I recalled that it wasn't the fault of the movie but the gospel itself which paints the man as a whiny, self-centered, self-absorbed, pompous, megalomaniacal, arrogant SOB prick that I would have happily seen hanging fromn a cross had I lived at the time.

I was thinking, this must have been what Jimmy Jones was like when he was alive and kicking.
